Eliza Gilmore Counseling

Somatic, Mindfulness-Inspired Therapist

Welcome.

I believe in our innate human capacity to move toward more experiences of wellness when offered the right conditions, and I trust that each of us is wired to heal in relationship. I trust that the simple, yet profound – and brave – act of telling our stories, taking risks to be received and witnessed in our pain and our pleasure, and beheld in our differences as well as our connectedness offers medicine.

At the core of my work, I value bringing deep respect for your unique lived experiences, curiosity to understand your individual system – in its wounding and in its wellness — and kindness to study together how these lived experiences impact your current life and relationships.

I gladly offer complementary phone consultations, so please reach out if you would like to connect with me about opportunities to work together.

About Me

Education:

  • MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Concentration in Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling — Naropa University, May 2019

  • BA in Spanish and International Studies, Concentration in Latin American Studies — Pepperdine University, May 2008

I do not believe that we are meant to heal in private, alone. Unfortunately, we live in a dominant culture which encourages us to do so. It also discourages us from feeling certain emotions and feeling states, and limits us within the human experience. I strongly believe that we are meant to heal in relationship, and in community.

I take great care in tending to the therapeutic relationship well, creating regular openings for feedback in order to attune to your needs and desires and stay current with your hopes and wishes for our work together. I have had the honor to witness, participate in, and receive the deeply healing process which arises in a safe-enough container with the loving presence of another who is paying attention with great care and compassion, and I use this as a guiding principle in my work.

In my time outside of my therapy practice, I enjoy dancing, playing my piano, singing, spending time outdoors with my favourite four-legged companion, and connecting with my friends and community.

My Offerings

My approach includes a combination of mindfulness-oriented, somatic, experiential and existential therapeutic modalities. All of these modalities are cradled within a knowing that the therapeutic relationship is the principal factor which supports you moving closer and closer toward what you are hoping to shift, grow, expand, or heal through therapy.

My specialties include chronic pain and/or illness, struggles with self-esteem, women’s work, grief and loss, highly sensitive persons and super-feelers, anxiety and depression, as well as supporting performance-driven folks and achievers. I also tend to work well with young adults and college students, emigrants and foreign students, and those experiencing loneliness and pain around an absence of feeling belonging in the world.

I experience sincere connection with, and devotion to, the natural world, and I happily invite the wisdom of the greater-than-human world into our work together. I am passionate about relational growth, sensuality and sexuality, ritualizing daily life, and designing ceremony to mark and honor important passages and thresholds.

Especially in my work with women, I challenge norms set by dominant culture and encourage the reclamation of your personal power and sovereignty alongside your unique, innate wisdom and erotic intelligence. Too often as women we are told what to feel, how to act, what to do (and not do!) with our bodies, and are stunted and harmed by these toxic narratives and oppressive systems. It is my privilege to witness and guide women as they dare to question and compost old, damaging belief systems to make space for more of themselves — more authentic expression, more aliveness, greater embodiment, and more access to pleasure and the erotic, generative stream of energy in their lives.

Working together, you will feel my support to…

  • remember your intrinsic health and wellness, and orient to this as a foundational way of feeling yourself.

  • map the many inner “parts” of you in service of understanding and integrating more of your experiences, and bringing more of yourself to the world.

  • challenge limiting beliefs and behaviors while trying on new pathways for relating to feel more satisfied in your relationships (with yourself, and with others).

  • grow a spirit of curiosity and openness to learn and be challenged with care, while extending abundant permission to feel exactly what you are feeling.

  • consider that often, right next door to a wound or pain point resides wellness and wisdom.

  • Cost

The fee is $150 per 60-minute session.

  • Location

I currently offer telehealth sessions for clients residing in the state of Colorado.
